Bill Smith

Married with one daughter in high school. Self-employed architectural draftsman.

(Bill is the Author of "GET REAL!", the world's first flight simulation novel)

The only real plane that I have ever flown solo is a Grumman AA trainer. That was back in 1977.

Discovered flight simulation when my daughter was a baby, at about the same time that my profession started to change to embrace computer technology. Learned about VOR navigation on FS version 5. Became completely hooked on FS 98 with its jet airliners and worldwide scenery. Currently operating FS2004, mostly flying real airline routes and schedules in real weather.

I have written FS articles and had them published on line at Flightsim.com and in print in Computer Pilot Magazine. In 2004 I was invited to speak at the first Australian Flightsim Expo in Sydney, during which I talked about the flightsim obsession that led me to write "Get Real!” (A sad man's neurotic fantasies in flight simulation).

Now quite content to have established “Get Real!” as a cult classic. Which is the kindest way to describe any book that continues to enjoy modest sales to hard core enthusiasts.
